Transparency About How Content is Ranked
InkFreakz uses an algorithmic system to determine which content is surfaced in search results, the Explore feed, and the Viral Leaderboard. Understanding how it works helps you create content that performs well.
The Core Signals
The algorithm weighs the following signals when ranking content:
- Engagement quality — Saves and shares carry more weight than views alone
- Recency — Newer content is given an initial boost to allow it to compete
- Profile completeness — Complete, verified profiles receive a baseline ranking advantage
- Content quality signals — Image resolution, description length, and tag accuracy are all factored in
- User relevance — Content is matched to users based on their style preferences and follow graph
What the Algorithm Promotes
The algorithm is designed to surface:
- High-quality, original tattoo work
- Content from verified, active artists and shops
- Diverse styles and techniques
- Content that generates genuine engagement (not just passive views)
What the Algorithm Does Not Promote
- Accounts with Community Guidelines violations
- Unverified profiles
- Low-quality or poorly described uploads
- Inactive accounts (no uploads in 90+ days receive reduced visibility)
How to Work With the Algorithm
- Post consistently — regular uploads keep your profile active in the ranking
- Write detailed descriptions with accurate style tags
- Complete your profile fully
- Get verified
- Encourage genuine engagement from your existing audience
