How to Apply for a Guest Spot
Find open guest spot listings, understand what shops look for, and submit a strong application. Everything artists need to know about the Guest Spot system.
What is a Guest Spot?
A guest spot is a temporary arrangement where a tattoo artist works at a shop that is not their home studio — typically for a few days to a week. Shops post guest spot listings on InkFreakz to attract travelling artists, and artists apply to fill those spots.
Finding Open Guest Spot Listings
Navigate to Guest Spots in the main navigation. You can filter listings by:
- Location (city, country)
- Date range
- Style preferences
- Shop type
Each listing shows the shop name, dates available, any style preferences, compensation details, and application requirements.
What to Include in Your Application
When you apply for a guest spot, your application should include:
- A brief introduction — who you are and your specialty
- Why you want to work at this specific shop
- Your availability within the listed dates
- A link to your InkFreakz portfolio (automatically included)
- Any relevant experience with guest spots or travelling
Keep it professional and concise. Shops receive multiple applications — a clear, well-written message stands out.
What Shops Look For
Shops posting guest spots are looking for artists who:
- Are verified on InkFreakz
- Have a strong, consistent portfolio
- Specialise in styles that complement or expand the shop's existing offerings
- Are professional and communicative
- Have a client base or can bring their own bookings
After Applying
The shop will review your application and respond via the InkFreakz messaging system. If accepted, you will coordinate dates, rates, and logistics directly with the shop. If you do not hear back within a week, it is acceptable to send a polite follow-up message.
